Project description

From the 1st of August 2010 until the 31st of July 2013, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University in partnership with VIA University College Denmark, Iasi County School Inspectorate, Botosani County School Inspectorate, Vaslui County School Inspectorate, Maramures County School Inspectorate, Mures County School Inspectorate and Braila County School Inspectorate are carrying out the project Save Children from Abandonment and Non-integration - SCAN

The SCAN project is co-financed by the European Social Fund through the Human Resources Development Operational Programme 2007 - 2013, the financial assistance grants amounting to 20126873.00 RON. The project falls in line with the Priority Axis 2 "Linking life long learning and labour market", Key Area of Intervention 2.2 "Preventing and correcting early school leaving"; the implementation period is of 36 months, from the 1st of August 2010 until the 31st of July 2013.
SCAN deploys an integrated approach ensured by the participation of all partners to trainings, assessments and, above all, to the activities of identification and support of dropout students or of those at risk of dropout. The project contributes to the development of strategies, action plans and intervention measures at multi-regional level, aiming at:

  • The prevention of early school leaving;
  • The maintenance of students at risk of dropout inside the school system;
  • The professional certification of the relatives of children facing this risk;
  • The educational reintegration of school dropouts.

Attaining the objectives set by the SCAN project will create a context fostering the reduction of secondary and upper-secondary school dropout rates, at multi-regional level. The programs of intervention, counselling, career guidance, financial support for students at risk of dropout, the continuing training offers for students, parents, teachers and other professionals will trigger the development of human capital by linking lifelong learning with labour market needs.
